AMMA had their awards banquet on November 22nd. The formal affair gave a chance to see everyone decked out in their best, a far cry from the usual drenched gym shirts and gloves we’re all used to seeing each other wear. And I must say AMMA warriors clean up mighty nice!
Honors included blue and red belt awards, male and female fighter of the year, fight team awards, Mr and Ms. BEST personality. Shout out to Javier and Wendy who received a special gift…ahem, a sword, for all the hard work and time they put in to helping out at the gym. And Master Will gave out his first Black Belt Award which went to Wendy.
So, now is my chance to say how great I thought this event was. This awards banquet showed me how much Will really cares about all of us. He took a lot of time decorating the gym, getting awards together, making a cake! and employing his wife for photos, because he wants us all to know how much he appreciates our efforts.
Will, we appreciate you. You’re one man and people expect from you what they would expect from 10. Your efforts don’t go unnoticed either. I think I speak for everyone at AMMA, when I say we recognize the time you spend away from your family to invest in us, we appreciate the work you put in with us and the encouragement and advice that you offer…sometimes even when we don’t ask for it.
Any fighter who’s worth his or her weight would be lucky to have you as coach. Thank you.
